About Us
One Church, encountering Jesus, equipping disciples, living mercy. We are a welcoming Eucharistic community that honors the sanctity of life and meets the spiritual and educational needs of families and individuals by actively living the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. While celebrating our rich Lithuanian, Croatian, Slovenian, Hungarian, Irish/Belgian history, along with the multi-cultural nature of South Omaha. We have a growing Hispanic ministry that is continuing to enrich our multi-cultural heritage. We also welcome and embrace fellow parishioners from these diverse cultures as we come together as a single community, unified by our Faith and our love of God.
Parish History
Sts. Peter and Paul Parish began in 1907 with Croatian descendants meeting for Mass in homes. Permission to build was granted in 1917, and the parish was incorporated the same year. The first Mass was held on Easter Sunday, 1918. The school opened in 1926 with 205 students. Additions to the school and auditorium occurred in 1957 and 1961. The convent was completed in 1948, rectory in 1954. The original church was demolished in 1966, and the current church was dedicated in 1967. Six pastors served from 1918 to 2000, followed by Rev. Frank Partusch (2001–2011), Rev. Frank Jindra (2011–2020), and current pastor Rev. William Bond (2020–present).
