History of St. Mary of Guadalupe

According to the parish's official website (St. Philip, Woodland), St. Mary became the first Catholic mission in Clark County in 1867. The community was erected as an independent parish in 1891, and a second church was constructed in 1902. The current church was dedicated in May 1959. Beginning in 1940 the community was alternately administered as a mission of Sacred Heart (Battle Ground) and St. Philip (Woodland), an arrangement that continues today. In 2024 the Archdiocese of Seattle's Partners in the Gospel process placed St. Mary of Guadalupe into Parish Family 44 with St. Philip and Sacred Heart under a single pastor.
