About St. Mark · Redgranite, Wisconsin

St. Mark is a small Roman Catholic parish in Redgranite, Wisconsin, in Waushara County, served from the same rectory as the neighboring Sacred Heart of Jesus parish in Poy Sippi under the Diocese of Green Bay. The parish traces its physical roots to 1905, when the present church was built, with an addition following in the 1950s, and today gathers weekly for Sunday Mass, weekday Masses, Eucharistic Adoration, the Rosary, and confessions. Its stated mission — 'Disciples becoming Saints through the love of Jesus in the Eucharist' — frames a faithful, Eucharist-centered community that also runs a cemetery, a CCW scholarship program, and a prayer chain.

Why belong here

St. Mark offers a quiet, traditional Catholic community anchored by daily and Sunday Mass, weekly Eucharistic Adoration, and the Holy Rosary — a rhythm rare in larger parishes. Parishioners are personally known by name: Fr. Nemali makes himself available for confession or anointing at any time, and the parish office is open four mornings a week right next to the church. Beyond liturgy, the parish maintains Saint Mark Cemetery on County Road EE, supports a CCW scholarship for high school graduates, and gathers for 'Food and Fellowship' after weekend Masses — the first Saturday at Sacred Heart and the last Sunday at St. Mark.

About St. Mark Parish

Saint Mark is a small Roman Catholic parish serving the Village of Redgranite and the surrounding rural area of Waushara County, Wisconsin. It belongs to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Green Bay and is administered jointly with Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Poy Sippi, sharing one pastor, one office staff member, one bulletin, and one website. The parish describes its mission in a single line: 'Disciples becoming Saints through the love of Jesus in the Eucharist.'

History & Building

The present Saint Mark Church was built in 1905, and an addition was constructed in the 1950s according to the Village of Redgranite. No published history of the parish's founding congregation, ethnic background, or earlier mission chapels was found on the parish site. The church continues to be used for the regular Sunday and weekday Mass schedule, with the parish office housed in an addition next door.

  • 1905 — present church built
  • 1950s — addition built
  • Parish is part of the Diocese of Green Bay (est. 1868)

Staff & Clergy

The parish is led by an Administrator rather than a residential pastor, reflecting the small size of the community and its pairing with Sacred Heart of Jesus in Poy Sippi. Day-to-day parish operations and bookkeeping are handled by a single office staff member who also staffs the Poy Sippi church.

  • Rev. Fr. Jaya Prakash (J. P.) Nemali — Administrator
  • Cyndi Getchius — Secretary & Bookkeeper

Sacraments

For Baptism, Confirmation, Marriage, Anointing of the Sick, or Holy Communion brought to the homebound, the parish asks the faithful to contact the office. The bulletin explicitly encourages anyone in need of anointing to ask Fr. Nemali at any time rather than waiting.

  • Baptism — contact the parish office
  • Confirmation — contact the parish office
  • Marriage — contact the parish office
  • Anointing of the Sick — ask Father at any time, or contact the office
  • Holy Communion for the homebound — contact the parish office

Ministries & Outreach

Despite its small size, St. Mark supports a number of parish ministries. The CCW (Council of Catholic Women) offers an annual scholarship to any confirmed high school graduate who is an active member of St. Mark or Sacred Heart. A parish Prayer Chain lifts up intentions submitted through the office, and a gift-card outreach supplies Dollar General, Walmart, and Kwik Trip cards to families who need help with personal items or gas beyond what local food pantries provide.

  • CCW Scholarship — applications due to the Parish Office by July 31 each year
  • Prayer Chain — submit intentions via the parish office
  • Gift-card outreach for parishioners in need
  • Food & Fellowship after weekend Masses (Last Sunday of the month at St. Mark after the 10:15 a.m. Mass)
  • Bishop's Appeal — annual diocesan campaign

Saint Mark Cemetery

The parish owns and maintains Saint Mark Cemetery, located at 1203 County Road EE, Redgranite. The cemetery is listed on the parish site as a parish resource for families in the community.
