History & Founding

St. Malachy Catholic Parish was established on June 17, 1971, in Tamarac, Florida, as part of the Archdiocese of Miami. Serving the growing Catholic population of northwestern Broward County, the parish has developed over more than five decades into a full campus that includes a church, a parish school, and space for community gatherings. A former pastor initiated plans to renovate and extend the church building, and the parish's signature annual festival has long been a major fundraiser supporting music concerts, the school, youth programs, and outreach to those in need.
