St. Luke Catholic Church is a parish of the Diocese of Phoenix located in north Phoenix, Arizona, serving the community west of I-17 to 16th Street and south of Carefree Highway to Bell Road. Officially founded on January 15, 1985, the parish celebrated its first Mass at Village Meadows Grade School on February 3, 1985, before moving to its current campus at 19644 N 7th Avenue. The parish is named for St. Luke the Evangelist, author of the third Gospel and the Acts of the Apostles, whose symbol is the winged ox representing sacrifice, service and strength. Today St. Luke offers Mass in English and Spanish, weekly Confession, First Friday Adoration, a Religious Education program, OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults), and a Mobile Food Sharing ministry that distributes groceries on the fourth Wednesday of each month.

About St. Luke Catholic Church
St. Luke Catholic Church is a Roman Catholic parish of the Diocese of Phoenix serving north Phoenix since 1985. The parish was officially founded on January 15, 1985, and celebrated its first Mass at Village Meadows Grade School on February 3, 1985, before moving to its current campus at 19644 N 7th Avenue. The parish community is named for St. Luke the Evangelist, author of the third Gospel and the Acts of the Apostles, whose symbol — the winged ox — represents sacrifice, service and strength. St. Luke is venerated as patron of artists, physicians and surgeons and, by tradition, was himself a painter of icons; the parish has commissioned its own set of St. Luke icons for the church.

Our Pastor — Fr. Gabriel Terrill
Fr. Gabriel Terrill writes that he has wanted to be a priest for as long as he can remember. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, he moved with his family to Mesa, Arizona in 2001, the second of seven children. Inspired by a Cistercian Trappist monk, Fr. Mary Patt, he entered seminary for the Diocese of Phoenix, studied philosophy in Ohio and theology in Rome, and was ordained on June 6, 2020. Before coming to St. Luke he served at Our Lady Queen of Peace, as chaplain at Seton Catholic Prep, and as parochial vicar at Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

Former Pastor — Fr. Pawel Stawarczyk
Father Pawel Stawarczyk was formally installed as pastor of St. Luke by Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted on August 21, 2011, in a ceremony followed by a Meet & Greet and brunch with the bishop. He went on to shepherd St. Luke for more than 15 years before departing in 2025 for further theological studies. Fr. Gabriel's welcome letter publicly thanked Fr. Pawel for his years of faithful, compassionate service to the parish.

Faith Formation — Religious Education (RE)
St. Luke's Religious Education program is a two-year program for children, with RE classes meeting on Wednesdays and parent classes meeting twice a month on Wednesdays. All registration is handled online through Flocknote. The program supports families in forming their children in the Catholic faith and preparing them to receive the sacraments.

OCIA / RICA — Sacraments for Adults
St. Luke welcomes adults who want to learn more about the Catholic Church, join the Church, or complete the sacraments of Confirmation and Communion. Adult Faith Formation / OCIA is offered in a 2-year program for Baptism and a 1-year program for Confirmation / Communion, with a Spanish-track RICA also available. The parish also welcomes returning Catholics who want to reconnect with their faith. Pre-registration is required, and an Adult Inquirer Information Form along with a Baptism or Birth Certificate must be submitted before attending classes.

Parish Ministries and Groups
The parish supports a wide range of lay ministries and groups. The Legion of Mary is an active prayer group that meets weekly to pray the rosary and serve the parish and wider community through Catholic outreach, gathering on Tuesdays at 1:00 pm in the St. Paul room. The Women's Craft Group meets every Wednesday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm in the Parish Hall. The Knights of Columbus (contact Mark Orcelletto, 602-828-3358) serve the parish through service and fraternity, and Hospitality Ministers, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, and Lectors round out the liturgical ministries.

Outreach — Mobile Food Sharing
St. Luke Catholic Church hosts a Mobile Food Sharing on its campus at 19644 N 7th Avenue. Food is distributed on the fourth Wednesday of each month from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, or until supplies last. The ministry is part of the parish's commitment to serving neighbors in need in the north Phoenix community.

Communications, Registration and Giving
The parish uses Flocknote as its all-in-one communication and member management platform, with email and text messaging plus online giving. The parish also runs an annual Catholic Daughters of the Americas (CDA) campaign and supports the broader diocesan CDA appeal.
