St. Luke Catholic Church is a Eucharist-centered parish of the Diocese of St. Augustine located in Middleburg, Florida, in northern Clay County. The parish was formally established in 1982 and now serves more than 2,000 registered families from Middleburg, Lake Asbury, South Orange Park, Oakleaf Plantation, Argyle and surrounding communities. Worship is offered in English with weekend Masses on Saturday evening and twice on Sunday, and the parish campus includes Annunciation Catholic School and the St. Luke Child Care Center.

St. Luke Catholic Church is one of the fastest-growing congregations in the North Florida region, serving Middleburg, Lake Asbury, South Orange Park, Oakleaf Plantation, Argyle, and the surrounding area. The parish formally identifies itself as a Eucharist-centered community whose mission is 'loving God, serving others and transforming the culture by our witness to the message of the Gospel in the way we live our lives and generously share our gifts.' The Roman Catholic Community of St. Luke's Parish acknowledges its common belief in One Triune God and, through baptism, its share in the common Priesthood of Jesus Christ. Guided by the Holy Spirit, the parish strives to live the Gospel through faithful teaching, worship and service, witnessing the Lord's presence among them by loving acceptance of all people.

History of St. Luke Parish
The parish began in 1973 with thirteen Catholic families meeting in homes, at Middleburg Elementary, and at the Middleburg Civic Center. Bishop Paul Francis Tanner had purchased a 25-acre site on Blanding Boulevard near Old Jennings Road in the early 1970s. In 1976 Father Luke McLoughlin moved a small donated building to the property, creating the 'little white church on the prairie,' where he celebrated the first Mass on Christmas Eve 1976. The diocese officially created Saint Luke Parish in July 1982 and placed it under Father Edward Rooney. By 1986 the parish had outgrown the little white church, and on Mother's Day, May 11, 1986, Bishop John Snyder blessed a new 10,000-square-foot dual-purpose church and hall. The parish topped 1,000 families by late 2002, broke ground for a larger permanent church on August 27, 2000, and grew to more than 2,000 families in subsequent years.

Pastoral Leadership
Father Edward K. Rooney served as the first pastor of Saint Luke Parish from its founding in 1982 until his retirement on June 30, 2010. Father Andy Blaszkowski succeeded him on July 1, 2010, after serving as parochial vicar at the Cathedral Basilica of the Resurrection. Father Blaszkowski oversaw the continued growth of the parish to more than 2,000 families, the opening of the St. Luke Child Care Center in 2013, the stained-glass window project, and the 2024 sanctuary renovation. In May 2025 Bishop Erik Pohlmeier reassigned Father Blaszkowski to Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish in Ponte Vedra Beach effective July 1, 2025, and announced that Reverend Philip Timlin would succeed him as pastor of St. Luke. Father Jaisemon Xaviour serves as a second full-time priest on staff.

Faith Formation and Becoming Catholic
St. Luke's is committed to offering Faith Formation programming for all ages, drawing on the USCCB vision that catechesis helps the faithful of all ages grow in both human and Christian maturity. Family Faith Formation, Adult Faith Formation, and Catholic Youth Ministry (CYM) make up the core formation program. The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is an ongoing, year-round process for adults seeking baptism, for baptized Christians seeking full communion, and for Catholics preparing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation; it typically culminates at the Easter Vigil. The parish also offers apologetics meetings on Wednesdays at 10:00 AM, a St. Luke Biblical School, and free digital content access to FORMED for all parishioners.

Parish Ministries and Outreach
St. Luke counts more than 50 ministries, ranging from liturgical and formation programs to community outreach and social support. Parish Outreach hosts coffee and donuts after Sunday Masses, runs receptions, and coordinates care for the bereaved, homeless, handicapped, sick, and dying. The Food Pantry distributes food every third Saturday from 9:00 AM to noon, and the Community Kitchen Ministry serves soup-and-sandwich meals one Saturday each month at the Saturday Café in the Parish Hall. Catholic Charities operates a satellite office on site. Other apostolates include Respect Life, Operation Blessing, a Homeschool Ministry, homebound and hospital visitations (Fridays) and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion who bring Communion to those unable to attend Mass.

Schools and Child Care
St. Luke Parish is home to Annunciation Catholic School, with Steve Eiswert serving as Principal. Adjacent to the parish hall and the school is the St. Luke Child Care Center, a 9,720-square-foot facility that opened in 2013 under Father Blaszkowski's leadership and now cares for children ages six weeks through VPK. The Child Care Center is open to all families regardless of religious affiliation. Together the school and child care center anchor family ministry at the parish, supporting parents and extending the parish's evangelizing presence into the wider Middleburg community.

Sacred Art and Sanctuary Renovation
In 2018 the parish launched a stained-glass window project titled 'Modern Day Saints and Witnesses to the Resurrection.' Sixteen upper windows in the main nave depict Modern Day Saints (Blessed Boleslawa Maria Lament, St. Damien of Molokai, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, St. Faustina Kowalska, St. Frances Cabrini, Blessed Jerzy Popieluszko, St. John XXIII, St. John Neumann, St. John Paul II, St. Kateri Tekakwitha, St. Katharine Drexel, St. Maximilian Kolbe, St. Padre Pio, St. Paul VI, St. Teresa of Calcutta, and St. Theresa Benedicta of the Cross), while ten upper windows in the gathering area depict Witnesses to the Resurrection (Peter, Paul, Mark, Luke, John, Matthew, two angels, Mary Magdalene, and two women). Four community windows depict the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. On December 15, 2024 Bishop Erik Pohlmeier dedicated a newly renovated sanctuary, including a reredos incorporating symbolic elements from the seven seals of Revelation and the chi-rho, a new altar of sacrifice, ambo, custom organ, tile floors, new carpet and refurbished pews. A relic of St. Mother Teresa was sealed within the new altar.

New parishioners are warmly welcomed and invited to register via the parish website; the parish also publishes an 'Active Parishioner' policy explaining the benefits of registration. Visitors are invited to explore the 50+ ministries listed on the Ministries page, to attend apologetics sessions on Wednesday mornings, and to subscribe to the weekly bulletin (also available on the website). The parish publishes news, schedules, and bulletins through its website and Facebook page.
