St. Lucy Catholic Parish is a bilingual (English and Spanish) Roman Catholic community in Campbell, California, belonging to the Diocese of San Jose. Its roots go back to 1914, when it began as a small Mission of Saint Martin Parish in San Jose; it was formally established as an independent parish in 1947 by Archbishop Mitty. History of St. Lucy Parish
The Catholic congregation that today forms St. Lucy Parish in Campbell traces its roots to 1914, when a Mission of Saint Martin Parish of San Jose was established on Third Street in Campbell and dedicated to Saint Lucy. As Campbell grew, the little mission church became inadequate, and in 1929 a larger church was built on Rincon Avenue — that building served the parish until 1957 and today houses the Orchard Community Church of Campbell. In 1947, Archbishop Mitty formally erected Saint Lucy as an independent parish and appointed Father Dennis Kennelly as its first pastor. Father Kennelly purchased several acres of land on Winchester Boulevard and oversaw a major expansion: a school building in 1953 (staffed by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur with 112 students in grades one, two and three) and a 600-seat church in 1957. The parish moved into that Winchester Boulevard church on August 15, 1957. Continued growth soon required even more space. In the 1960s his successor, Father Lally, recognized that a still-larger church was needed. The new 1,200-seat church was blessed on October 29, 1967 by Archbishop McGucken and continues as the parish's main place of worship today; the former 1957 church was converted into a parish hall and gymnasium for the school.

Parish Ministries
St. Lucy supports a broad range of lay-led ministries serving the spiritual, liturgical and social needs of the parish and the broader Campbell community. Most ministries welcome new members; the parish maintains a Ministry Contact List for those interested in joining.
- Altar Servers (training offered for parish youth in 5th grade and older who have received First Communion).
- Comité Hispano — the parish's Hispanic ministry, with choir, ushers, Eucharistic ministers, lectors and commentators; organizes Our Lady of Guadalupe celebrations and Posadas.
- St. Vincent de Paul / Outreach — parish-based conference offering rent/utility assistance, food cards and toiletries.
- Knights of Columbus — part of San Jose Council #3474 (est. 1951), shared with several neighboring parishes.
- Choirs — including the 5:30 PM Sunday "With One Voice" choir (currently seeking instrumentalists).

St. Vincent de Paul and Outreach
St. Lucy's parish-based St. Vincent de Paul Conference (the Vincentians) serves anyone living within the parish boundaries — parishioners and non-parishioners alike. Funds from the quarterly second collection and other special collections are used to assist clients with rent and utilities, food, food cards and toiletries. A food and toiletry collection is held during all Masses on the third Sunday of each month and is distributed to the housed and unhoused who visit the outreach office.

Knights of Columbus
St. Lucy is part of San Jose Council #3474 of the Knights of Columbus, established in 1951. The Council is a Catholic men's service organization guided by the principles of charity, unity, and fraternity and includes members from St. Christopher, St. Frances Cabrini, St. Mary (Los Gatos) and Transfiguration parishes in addition to St. Lucy. Knights help with parish events such as the St. Patrick's Day Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner, the Thanksgiving Turkey Drive and the Annual Catholic School Scholarship Award.

Faith Formation and Religious Education
The Faith Formation Ministry at St. Lucy welcomes all children, youth and adults — baptized or not — and operates in accordance with the catechetical standards of the Diocese of San Jose. The parish emphasizes that faith formation is a life-long process and the work of the entire Catholic Christian community. Coordinators lead English- and Spanish-language tracks and are supported by volunteer catechists from many walks of life.
- Faith Formation: Children — catechetical ministry, 2-year First Eucharist/Reconciliation preparation; staffed by Mary Smith (English) and Alma Gamez (Spanish).
- Faith Formation: Teens/Youth — Confirmation preparation for grades 9–12, with 2 retreats, community service hours and a sponsor retreat; coordinated by Luciana Zuniga-Angel.
- Faith Formation: Adults — RCIA, ongoing formation, and sacramental preparation.
- Goals: ongoing conversion to Jesus Christ and full participation in the life of the Catholic Church.
Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA and RCIC)
The St. Lucy Community invites anyone interested in Catholicism to participate in a spiritual journey of faith through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults — whether unbaptized, baptized Catholic without formal religious education, or baptized in another Christian tradition. A parallel program, the Rite of Christian Initiation of Children (RCIC), is a two-year process for children above age 6 who are not yet baptized or who were baptized in another Christian tradition.

St. Lucy School
St. Lucy Parish School is a Catholic K-8 elementary school that has shared the Winchester Boulevard campus with the parish since 1953, when it opened with 112 students in grades one through three under the direction of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. The school's gymnasium and parish hall were created from the parish's 1957 church building when the present-day church was built in 1967.
