A Century of Prayer in Englewood
When Father Louis Hagus said the first Mass on July 11, 1911, Broadway and the surrounding streets in Englewood were still unpaved, and the State of Colorado itself was only 35 years old. The land around today's church was originally part of the old Orchard Place settlement and was named Englewood — "wooded nook" — when a few early settlements officially incorporated as a city in 1903. The church at 3310 S. Sherman Street, begun within a year of the parish's founding, has for more than a century held the hopes, dreams, and sorrows of thousands of parishioners, and continues to be sustained by their volunteer labor and financial generosity.

Clergy & Staff
The parish is served by a full pastoral team: a pastor, two parochial vicars, and a permanent deacon who especially ministers to the Croatian Catholic community in the area. Deacon Mladen Martinovic
Deacon Mladen has served St. Louis Catholic Parish since his ordination in 2015. Born under communist rule, he was persecuted for his Christian faith as a young boy, eventually fleeing to Germany with his uncle before settling in Denver in 1997 with his wife. He has served the local Croatian Catholic community at St. Louis Parish ever since his ordination, bringing a powerful personal witness of fidelity under persecution.

Formation & Faith Education
The parish's formation life centers on sacramental preparation for children, OCIA for adults entering the Church, seasonal formation series, small groups, and special events like the Night of Hope. Sacramental preparation and OCIA classes take place in cooperation with nearby Lourdes Parish, in McCaddon Hall.

Children in second grade and above can prepare to receive First Reconciliation, and those in third grade and above can prepare for First Holy Communion and Confirmation. Monthly classes are typically held on the second Wednesday in McCaddon Hall at Lourdes Parish; registration is completed online.

Becoming Catholic (OCIA)
For those curious about the Catholic faith — whether already Catholic or completely new — OCIA (the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) offers weekly classes taught by the parish priests at Lourdes Parish each year from fall until Easter. The parish also participates annually in a parish-wide RCIA/OCIA process.

Formation Series, Small Groups & Night of Hope
Beyond the formal sacramental programs, the parish runs 6–8 week formation series each fall and spring, and welcomes parishioners into small groups that meet regularly for study, prayer, and friendship. The Night of Hope is a candlelit evening of Adoration with a brief reflection, praise and worship, and silent prayer.

Community Life
The parish offers a wide range of community groups that gather around shared stages of life, shared prayer practices, and shared interests — from moms of all-aged children to parents of children with special needs, women 55+, Scripture-prayer groups, and pickup basketball.
Small Groups & Prayer Gatherings
Small groups meet regularly for study, prayer, and friendship with the aim of fostering spiritual growth and community. The parish's Lectio Divina group meets on Mondays at 7 PM in the Church to pray with Scripture using the ancient practice of Lectio Divina; no experience is necessary.

Family & Special-Needs Support
St. Louis Moms Ministry is a community where mothers with children of all ages come together for friendship, prayer, and mutual encouragement while their children play. A separate Parents of Children with Special Needs Group offers support and connection among parents raising children with ADHD, learning differences, genetic conditions, autism, or medical fragility.

Planning Your Visit
Visitors are welcomed to weekday Mass Monday through Friday at 8:00 AM, Saturday vigil at 5:00 PM, and Sunday Masses at 8:30 and 10:30 AM. Confessions and Eucharistic Adoration are offered Saturday 3:00–4:30 PM, and Adoration follows the weekday Mass Monday–Friday.
