Parish History
In 1912 Father J.M. Evano, pastor of St. Bridget in Schriever, began serving the Bayou Blue community, celebrating Mass twice a month at the Gros General Merchandise Store and organizing catechism. The land for the present church was purchased in 1913 from Andre' and Lina Dupre for $170; an early chapel was destroyed by storms in 1915 and again in 1926. A new chapel was dedicated February 27, 1928 by Archbishop John W. Shaw. On January 2, 1965, the mission was formally established as a parish with Father S.J. Manikowski as founder and 175 families. The rectory was completed in 1965, the parish hall in 1976, and the church gained a spacious vestibule in the early 1980s.

Ministries and Faith Formation
St. Louis offers faith formation for children and youth, a developing youth ministry program, and a music ministry that supports liturgy. The parish is actively seeking an organist/vocalist and adult and teen volunteers for the new youth ministry core team.

Cemetery
