History of the Parish

The community was officially recognized by the Archdiocese of Denver as a Korean faith community in 1981, during a wave of Korean immigration into the Denver metro. After 15 years of pastoral growth and ministry, the Archdiocese raised it to parish (Parish) status in 1996. The parish later became the home of the St. Lawrence Korean School (founded 2001) and underwent a significant building expansion in 2014.

Patron Saint

The parish's name honors both St. Lawrence, the 3rd-century deacon and martyr of Rome (feast day August 10), and — through the parish's '주보 성인' (saint of the bulletin) feature — St. Laurent Joseph Marius Imbert, the French bishop-martyr of Korea whose baptismal name was Laurentius and whose Korean name was 범세형 (范世亨). Bishop Imbert was born on March 23, 1796, in Bricart, parish of Marignane, in the Diocese of Aix in southern France, and was martyred during the Korean persecution.
