Building a New St. Lawrence Church
Because of rapid population growth in the Heber Valley and continued growth at St. Lawrence, the mission is in the early stages of building a brand-new church. Bishop Solis has appointed Pastor Fr. Dass to head the project; a feasibility study was completed at the end of 2024, and the parish is now preparing a formal proposal for the diocese, including fundraising timeline and initial schematics. All current building-fund money is reserved solely for the new-church project.
- Planned site: corner of Mill Dr. and 980 S. (6 acres already owned by the parish, across from the rectory)
- Goal: 600-seat sanctuary + classrooms for ~150
- Fundraising goal: $14 million
- Building fund currently at just under $1 million
- Construction cannot begin until 100% of funds are raised
- Building Committee includes parishioners from both St. Mary's and St. Lawrence
- Bishop has explicitly stated St. Lawrence will remain a mission under St. Mary's
- 2024 diocesan Meitler Study: Heber Valley can support a new church but not yet a Catholic school
