Our Patroness
St. Katharine Drexel (1858–1955) was a Philadelphia-born heiress who dedicated her life and inheritance to founding the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament in 1891. She established schools, missions, and churches for Native and African Americans across the United States, most notably Xavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans. Canonized by Pope St. John Paul II in 2000, she is a patron saint of racial justice and philanthropists.
Parish History
St. Katharine Drexel Parish began its new history on October 17, 2008, when Holy Ghost Parish and St. Francis de Sales Parish were merged in the Archdiocese of New Orleans. The parish community gathers for worship at Holy Ghost Church.
