Saint Juliana — Patron

The parish is named after St. Juliana, an early Christian virgin martyr venerated in both the Latin and Greek Churches. According to tradition, she suffered during the Diocletian persecution, was identified with a martyr of Cumae in Campania, and was widely honored in Naples and the Low Countries. Her feast is celebrated on February 16 in the Latin Church and December 21 in the Greek Church. The Catholic Encyclopedia's transcription of her entry is, fittingly, 'Dedicated to the parish of St. Juliana's in Fort Valley, Georgia.'

  • Early Christian virgin martyr
  • Latin feast day: February 16
  • Greek feast day: December 21
  • Venerated especially in Naples and the Low Countries
