History and Mission Roots
Bishop Charles D. White, second Bishop of Spokane (appointed 1927), personally established St. Jude in Usk as part of his mission outreach to Native Americans in northeastern Washington. Diocesan priests stationed at St. Anthony in Newport have traveled to Usk to celebrate Mass and the sacraments from the 1920s onward — at times also serving the Kalispel Government Indian School. The GCatholic directory records the parish's history as dating from 1941, and the parish was formally incorporated as a Washington State nonprofit in 2007.
