History of St. Jude Thaddeus
St. Jude Thaddeus was canonically established on June 15, 1978 under founding pastor Monsignor Salvador 'Salty' Culotta, as the first Catholic church built in Beaumont in more than 50 years. The first Mass was celebrated June 17, 1978 at Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School, where parishioners continued to worship until Bishop Ganter broke ground on the ten-acre Gladys Avenue property on January 28, 1979 and dedicated the completed buildings in July 1980.
