About St. Joseph's Chapel · Spirit Lake, Idaho

St. Joseph's Chapel is a small Roman Catholic mission chapel in Spirit Lake, Idaho, situated in the Diocese of Boise and served as a chapel of St. George Parish in Post Falls. It offers Sunday and weekday Mass, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, Eucharistic Adoration, and a handful of parish ministries including the Women of Saint Joseph and a local Knights of Columbus council (St. Joseph Council 15304). Because it is a mission chapel, St. Joseph's is pastored by the St. George pastor (Father Sleeva Raju Madanu) with Father Bruno Segatta, a retired Boise-diocese priest and well-known painter, serving as Sacramental Minister. The chapel sits on North Highway 41 and is a quiet worship presence for Catholics in the Spirit Lake community in Kootenai County's northern panhandle.

Why belong here

St. Joseph's is a small, mission-sized Catholic community where Mass is celebrated Sunday at 11 AM and Tuesday and Thursday at 8 AM, with confession offered before each Mass and Eucharistic Adoration on the first Thursday of the month after the 8 AM Mass and Divine Mercy Chaplet. Parishioners can get involved through the Women of Saint Joseph (who host fundraisers such as the Spaghetti Dinner and parish Art Show/Silent Auction), the St. Joseph Council 15304 of the Knights of Columbus (which serves both Spirit Lake and Rathdrum), the Thursday 'God's Gifted Hands' ministry that meets in the parish hall, and a Thursday Bible Study. It is also a convenient worship site for North Idaho Catholics in the Spirit Lake area who want the warmth of a small chapel with regular confession, Adoration, and devotions.

About St. Joseph's Chapel

St. Joseph's Chapel is a small Roman Catholic mission chapel in Spirit Lake, Idaho, part of the Diocese of Boise and served as a chapel of St. George Parish in Post Falls. The community gathers for Sunday Mass, weekday Masses, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, monthly Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and a handful of lay ministries including the Women of Saint Joseph, the local Knights of Columbus council, a Bible study, and the 'God's Gifted Hands' ministry that meets in the parish hall. Because the chapel is a mission of St. George's rather than an independent parish, administration and sacramental coverage are coordinated out of Post Falls.

Clergy and Staff

Because St. Joseph's is a mission chapel of St. George Parish, oversight comes from the pastor and staff of St. George's in Post Falls. The parish's sacramental life at the chapel is supported by Father Bruno Segatta, a retired Boise-diocese priest and well-known painter who serves as Sacramental Minister for both St. Joseph's in Spirit Lake and St. Stanislaus in Rathdrum. Deacon Vince Perry is associated with St. George's and frequently assists across the Post Falls/Rathdrum/Spirit Lake cluster, and Ms. Laura Corbin serves as Office Manager for St. George Parish.

Parish Ministries and Groups

St. Joseph's has an active calendar of lay-led ministries and small-group activities that use the parish hall and chapel throughout the week. The Women of Saint Joseph organize community fundraisers such as the annual Spaghetti Dinner and parish Art Show & Silent Auction, while the local Knights of Columbus council (St. Joseph Council 15304) — which serves both Spirit Lake and Rathdrum — supports parish life and broader diocesan outreach.

Devotions and Weekly Prayer Life

Beyond the regular Mass schedule, St. Joseph's keeps several traditional devotions at the heart of parish prayer life. The Divine Mercy Chaplet is prayed on the first Thursday of each month immediately after the 8:00 AM Mass and is followed by an hour of Eucharistic Adoration. A weekly parish Bible Study meets on Thursday mornings at 10:00 AM, and Adoration is also listed on the parish calendar on Wednesdays at 5:30 PM.

  • Divine Mercy Chaplet — 1st Thursday after 8:00 AM Mass
  • Eucharistic Adoration — 1st Thursday, 8:30–9:30 AM (and additional Wednesdays at 5:30 PM per parish calendar)
  • Thursday Bible Study — 10:00 AM

Community Life and Fundraisers

The parish hall is a busy hub: it hosts the Thursday 'God's Gifted Hands' Ministry, Bible study, Knights of Columbus meetings, and Deacon Vince's classes, as well as larger community events. The Women of Saint Joseph host an annual Art Show, Silent Auction, and Spaghetti Dinner — artwork by Father Bruno Segatta and other parish artists is auctioned to raise funds for those in need. The St. Joseph Council 15304 of the Knights of Columbus likewise supports local charities and partners with organizations such as Cup of Grace and TOUCO.
