History

Built in 1965 by displaced miners from Bingham Canyon towns like Dinkeyville, Lark, and Highland Boy, who were forced to relocate due to copper mining expansion. These immigrants and their families, lacking financial resources, constructed the church themselves with physical labor. Monsignor John Sullivan championed the project to provide a spiritual home. The church was dedicated to St. Joseph the Worker, patron saint of workers, honoring the labor and sacrifice of its founders.
