St. Joseph Mission – Redwood is a small Roman Catholic mission church serving the rural Redwood community just north of San Marcos, Texas. Officially a mission of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Seguin (about a 36-mile round trip south), it is shepherded by the Missionaries of the Holy Family (MSF), the same religious community that staffs the parent parish. The mission exists so that Catholics in the Redwood area do not have to travel many miles for Mass and the sacraments, and today it offers three Sunday Masses in English and Spanish, a religious-education program (CCD), and is cared for by the same team of MSF priests and deacons who serve Our Lady of Guadalupe.

It is a welcoming bilingual mission (English and Spanish), is shepherded by the dedicated Missionaries of the Holy Family, and offers a CCD religious-education program for children — making it a true spiritual home for local Catholic families, with the full support of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish just down the road.

The mission takes its name from St. Joseph, spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary and foster-father of Jesus, whose feast day is March 19. It is canonically a mission of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Seguin, Texas, in the Archdiocese of San Antonio, and is shepherded by the Missionaries of the Holy Family (MSF).

History of the Mission
Before any mission existed, Catholics in the rural Redwood community north of San Marcos had to make the long drive — a 36-mile round trip — to Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Seguin to attend Mass. With limited transportation, many local Catholics went years without receiving the Eucharist, and some adults had still not received their First Communion. The Missionaries of the Holy Family responded by sending priests up from Seguin to celebrate Mass for the community.
- Mass was first celebrated outdoors on a café patio in Redwood.
- The liturgy then moved indoors to a local restaurant.
- A permanent mission church was built on Redwood Road with support from the Catholic Extension Society and MSF benefactors.
- Weekly Sunday attendance grew to over 100 within a few years of the mission's founding.

Faith Formation & CCD
Alongside Sunday Mass, a CCD (Confraternity of Christian Doctrine) religious-education program has been established at St. Joseph Mission so that the children of the Redwood community can receive ongoing faith formation and sacramental preparation. The program operates in cooperation with Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, the parent parish that supports the mission.
