St. Joseph Catholic Church is a large, multicultural Roman Catholic parish in Richardson, Texas, serving both Richardson and the neighboring city of Garland within the Diocese of Dallas. Established June 1, 1976, the parish grew from a handful of families meeting in a public elementary school into a community of more than 18,000 registered parishioners across nearly 5,800 families, with a Pre-K–8th grade Catholic school, an active sacramental and faith-formation program, and one of the Diocese of Dallas's flagship initiatives for inclusion of Catholics with disabilities. Parish History & Golden Jubilee
St. Joseph Parish was established June 1, 1976, and celebrated its first Masses on June 6, 1976, at Springridge Elementary School, 1801 Spring Valley Road, with 877 people in attendance. The fledgling community grew rapidly: by September 1976, 600 students were enrolled in religious-education classes, a Saturday evening Mass was added in October, and a rectory had been purchased at 2116 J.J. Pearce. Ground was broken on the first permanent building on June 12, 1977, and the $250,000 loan for that multipurpose structure was retired in only three and a half years (final payment May 21, 1982). The parish broke ground on its permanent church on May 13, 1984, blessed the new building on February 16, 1986, and dedicated it on the Feast of St. Joseph, March 19, 1986, with Bishop Thomas A. Tschoepe of Dallas presiding. In 2026 the parish marked its 50th anniversary with a jubilee Mass and launched the 'Century Fund: Together in Faith — 50 Years and Beyond.'

St. Joseph Catholic School
St. Joseph Catholic School opened in August 2002 with fifty students in kindergarten through second grade. Today it is a Pre-K4 through 8th-grade program serving approximately 218 families on a beautiful campus attached to the parish church. According to the Catholic Schools Office of the Diocese of Dallas, the school maintains a 14:1 student-to-teacher ratio, serves around 290 students, and offers an extended-day program, weekly Mass, faith-formation lessons, art, music, library, physical education, foreign-language study, the Superkids phonics curriculum, and Handwriting Without Tears. Faith Formation & Sacramental Preparation
Faith formation at St. Joseph spans the whole parish and is organized under Simon Powell (Director of Faith Formation), Alfredo Ramirez (Director of Adult Faith Formation), Christie McGee (Director of Children & Family Ministry), and Carmen Fernandez (Associate). The parish operates a full Sacramental Preparation program for First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation, an OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults, formerly RCIA) directed by Deacon Richard Nelson, and an active Marriage Ministry led by Maria Callejas and Ingrid Arredondo.

Youth, Young Adult & Family Life
St. Joseph runs a robust cycle of youth, young-adult, and family ministries. Ojas Inamdar serves as Director of Youth & Young Adult Ministry, with Junior Catholic Daughters of the Americas and Vacation Bible School rounding out the children's programming. A Marriage Ministry under Maria Callejas walks couples through preparation and ongoing enrichment. Together, these groups serve parishioners from cradle to college and beyond.

St. Joseph lives out the corporal and spiritual works of mercy through a strong network of outreach ministries. Practical adaptations include a monthly sensory-friendly Mass (third Saturdays at 7:00 PM), adapted faith-formation curricula, and social-support networks that connect families of children with disabilities.
