St. Joseph Church in New Albin, Iowa, is one of the five worship communities that form Holy Family of the Bluffs Parish in the Archdiocese of Dubuque. The parish traces its roots to 1867, when a church named St. Joseph was built under the guidance of Father Jacoby of Lansing, and the present brick church was completed in 1910. Today it is served by Pastor Fr. Joseph Sevcik and Parochial Vicar Fr. Philip Agyei, with Mass celebrated at St. Joseph Church on Wednesday mornings and, according to recent parish bulletins, on Sunday mornings at 8:00 am. The community offers faith formation, liturgical ministry, pastoral council, and stewardship in a small-town Mississippi River setting.

History
St. Joseph Parish was founded in 1867 under the guidance of Father Cornelis of Lansing and later Father Jacoby of Lansing, who built a church named St. Joseph near New Albin. The parish survived foreclosure threats in the 1870s, saw its first resident pastor appointed in 1903, and built the present brick church in 1910 under Father Edmund Ryan. In 1912 the parish purchased a new cemetery south of New Albin, and Father L. Hayes served from 1922 to 1950.
