St. Joseph Parish in LaGrange, Indiana, is the only Catholic church in LaGrange County and has served the area since the 1930s. Parish History
From frontier Masses in a log chapel and hotel gatherings to the present-day church dedicated in 1980, St. Joseph has grown steadily while remaining the only Catholic parish in LaGrange County.
- 1930s: Founded after a Methodist minister invited a Catholic priest to speak in LaGrange
- After 1931: Mass celebrated in the Burr Hotel
- 1937: Present church construction began January 5 and dedicated March 19 by Bishop Noll
- 1957: Granted full parish status; Father Raymond Osdyke, OFM, first resident pastor
- 1978–1980: Larger church and hall built; dedicated April 26, 1980 by Bishop McManus
- 1993: Social hall and gymnasium added
- 2012: Became a diocesan parish after ending affiliation with Franciscan friars in Angola
- 2022: Renewed priest-sharing with St. Anthony of Padua in Angola and St. Paul's Chapel in Fremont
