The new church, designed by Taliesin Architects, was completed under budget in less than a year and dedicated on July 31, 2005. The original St. Leo’s church still stands as a private residence in Friendship, and its bell and statues were brought to the new church as historical reminders.
Church History
Originally founded as St. Leo’s Church in 1884 in Friendship, the parish merged with St. Joseph’s in Adams in 1922. In 2005, the parish returned to its original name and location after relocating to a 6-acre property donated by late member John Liebelt. The new church, designed by Taliesin Architects, was completed under budget in less than a year and dedicated on July 31, 2005. The original St. Leo’s church still stands as a private residence in Friendship, and its bell and statues were brought to the new church as historical reminders.
