Who We Are — Parish Mission
St. Joseph's Catholic Church describes itself as a Christ-centered, friendly, multicultural worshipping community of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Charlotte. Its mission is to respond to the call of Jesus, proclaim the Gospel, and bear witness to His Resurrection through lives of worship, fellowship, and works of charity. Inspired by the Holy Spirit and guided by the intercession of Mary, Mother of God, and St. Joseph, the patron, the parish lives out its mission through Eucharist-centered prayer, continuous formation in Scripture and Tradition, fellowship and outreach ministries, and the stewardship of time, talent, and treasure.

Parish History
Catholic life in Randolph County dates to at least 1888. Without a resident priest, Asheboro Catholics were served by visiting priests — including the future Bishop Michael Begley — beginning in 1935. The first Mass at the present location was the Midnight Mass on Christmas 1947, celebrated in the house on the property. The parish was formally established on March 15, 1948, and dedicated by Bishop Vincent S. Waters of Raleigh on September 19, 1948. Major building milestones followed in 1954, 1978, and the early 1990s, producing the present church complex on West Wainman Avenue.

New Church Campus — Our Faith's Journey
St. Joseph's is preparing to build a new church on 97 acres of rolling countryside with natural water features along Vision Drive, purchased in 2019. The parish is working with the Diocese of Charlotte and the NC Department of Environmental Quality on grading and environmental review. As of April 2026, site grading and a Master Plan are being completed. The parish has run a successful Capital Campaign to fund construction; updates and the Master Plan PDF are posted on the parish website.

Philip Kollithanath to St. John Neumann Parish in Charlotte. Faith Formation at St. Joseph's is offered in both English and Spanish for children K-5, with a separate track leading to Confirmation in middle and high school. OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) welcomes adults inquiring about the Catholic faith.

Parish life includes a Youth Ministry for teens ages 13-18, seasonal Bible Studies, a Rosary group, and liturgical music. Parish councils — the Parish Council, Finance Council, Building Committee, and Hispanic Council — guide the work of the parish.

Sacraments
The parish prepares parishioners for all the major sacraments. Baptisms follow a preparation class for registered, participating parents. Couples must contact the Pastor at least six months before a wedding. The parish also visits and anoints the sick in coordination with local hospitals (which cannot share room numbers under federal privacy law).

Visiting & Becoming a Member
Newcomers and visitors are warmly welcomed at every liturgy. Cell phones should be silenced in the sanctuary, and a cry room is available for families with small children. New parishioners can register as members using forms available in the parking lot vestibule or by calling the parish office.
