About Our St. John XXIII Catholic Community
St. John XXIII Congregation is a fairly new congregation but with a long and rich history. Immaculate Conception, St. Mary’s, St. Peter of Alcantara, and Port Catholic School merged on July 1, 2016, to become St. John XXIII. This merger brought together diverse traditions and communities, creating a vibrant and unified parish. Each church brought its own unique heritage and strengths, enriching the collective spirit of St. John XXIII. Immaculate Conception is known for its beautiful architecture and longstanding community involvement. St. Mary’s has a history of nurturing faith through its engaging programs and ministries. St. Peter of Alcantara is celebrated for its commitment to social justice and outreach efforts. Our School has been a pillar of Catholic education in the area, fostering academic excellence and spiritual growth. Together, these entities form a single congregation that is dedicated to living out its mission with joy and purpose.
