St. John the Evangelist in Winthrop, Massachusetts, is a Catholic church and the patronal worship site of St. Michael the Archangel Parish in the Archdiocese of Boston. Founded as a mission in the late 1880s and established as a parish in 1907, it has served generations of Winthrop Catholics and remains the setting for the parish's Saturday Vigil and Sunday Masses. Today it continues its mission under the pastoral care of Fr. Paul Aveni, offering the sacraments, Eucharistic adoration, and faith formation for all ages.

History
St. John the Evangelist began as a mission of St. Mary Star of the Sea in East Boston around 1887 and became an independent parish in 1907. The present church was constructed from 1911 to 1923 and a parish school was added in 1951. In 2021 it merged with Holy Rosary to form St. Michael the Archangel Parish.
Worship
The Saturday Vigil and all Sunday Masses are celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Church. Daily Mass and the Sunday 11 AM Mass are celebrated at Holy Rosary Chapel.
