Sacraments
St. John the Evangelist publishes a separate page for each of the seven sacraments it regularly celebrates, with practical preparation guidelines for parishioners. Baptism is offered to infants, children older than seven, and adults (the latter through the RCIA process). First Eucharist and Confirmation both require a year of formation. Marriage preparation follows Archdiocese of San Antonio norms.
- Baptism for Infants — parents must attend a pre-Baptism class and present the child's birth certificate and godparent Confirmation certificates
- Baptism for Children & Teens (age 7+) — adapted RCIA process
- Baptism for Adults — full RCIA (Inquiry, Catechumenate, Enlightenment & Purification, Mystagogy)
- First Eucharist — one-year preparation; family must be registered parishioners; parents attend Reconciliation, retreat, and rehearsal
- Confirmation for Teens — 1st & 2nd Year program; requires newly dated Baptismal certificate and registered-parishioner status
- Confirmation for Adults — for Catholics completing their sacraments, brides/grooms, returning veterans, etc.; marital-status rules apply (Church marriage required before Confirmation; divorced-and-remarried need annulment)
- Matrimony — at least 6 months advance notice, marriage preparation per Archdiocese of San Antonio, minimum age 18, music coordinated with parish vocalist/organist
- Anointing of the Sick — listed under Sacraments menu
