History of the Parish
St. John the Evangelist has served the farming and ranching families of the Moapa Valley for many years. Father Leo Coughlin oversaw the parish for a long tenure, culminating in the groundbreaking of the new Parish Center and worship space on September 16, 2006. After Father Coughlin retired in February 2008, the parish went more than a decade without a full-time resident priest, with visiting clergy from La Virgen de Guadalupe in Mesquite coming to celebrate Mass. That changed on July 1, 2021, when Father Henry P. Salditos was assigned as the first full-time resident priest in over thirteen years.

Clergy & Staff
The parish is led by Father Henry P. Salditos, who serves as Parish Administrator. A native of the Philippines, Father Henry previously served at Our Lady of the Valley before being assigned to Logandale. Church secretary Cindy Nelson has been a long-standing presence in the parish office and was among those who prayed for thirteen years for a resident priest.

Mass & Worship Schedule
The parish offers a weekly schedule of Masses in English, plus a bilingual Saturday Vigil Mass celebrated in both Spanish and English. The current schedule reflects the expanded services introduced after Father Salditos' arrival in 2021.

Sacramental Life
With a resident priest in place, the parish is able to celebrate the sacraments regularly. Confession is heard before each Mass and by appointment, and Father Salditos is known for making house calls for Anointing of the Sick or Last Rites at any hour of the day or night.

The parish has a strong tradition of reaching out beyond its walls. In December 2023, Father Salditos welcomed nearly 400 people to an inter-faith Christmas celebration co-hosted with the Logandale Nevada Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The event was a joyful example of the parish's commitment to unity with neighboring Christian communities in the Moapa Valley.
