History
The parish was founded in 1881 by French and Irish Canadian settlers. The first Mass was held in December 1881, followed by a second in John Kennedy’s home. By 1882, construction of a small church was planned on donated land. The first baptism occurred in June 1884, and the first confirmation class of 13 took place in July 1884 under the leadership of Rt. Rev. Martin Marty, Vicar Apostolic of the Diocese of the Dakotas.
