Parish History

St. John the Baptist Parish was founded on February 25, 1888, when 75 families left St. Mary's to build their own parish. The community built a new church in 1890, endured four lightning strikes before 1917, opened a school in 1934, and built a new rectory in 1950. Major anniversaries were celebrated in 1963, 1988, and 2013. The school closed in 2002 and the building was repurposed for parish offices and religious education.
