Parish History
St. John Baptist de La Salle was established in 1951 as a central parish hub for Catholics across several small communities in the Wilkes County region. In 1985 the parish undertook the construction of a new, permanent church building at the intersection of US Highway 421 and NC Highway 115, under the guidance of Fr. John Schneider and a dedicated building committee. The completed structure was dedicated on April 7, 1989 by Bishop John F. Donoghue, marking the beginning of a renewed chapter of evangelization in the Wilkes area.

Sacraments
St. John Baptist de La Salle prepares parishioners for and celebrates the seven Catholic sacraments — Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, Penance (Confession), Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders, and Matrimony. Confession is regularly scheduled on Saturday afternoons and by appointment. Couples and families preparing for the sacraments are encouraged to contact the parish office to begin formation.

Faith Formation
Faith Formation at St. John Baptist de La Salle supports parishioners of all ages in growing as Catholic disciples. The program is coordinated by Temoc Herrejon and is offered in both English and Spanish to serve the parish's bilingual community. Pastoral accompaniment is provided by Sr. Janis McQuade, S.S.J.
