History of the Parish
The Catholic community of La Place founded St. Joan of Arc parish in 1947, dedicating it to the French saint and completing the church with a statue of Joan of Arc atop the steeple. Over the following decades the parish grew alongside the surrounding community, opening St. Joan of Arc School in 1961 under the Dominican Sisters. Long-running ministries such as the Monday Night Fatima Rosary Group (more than 45 years active) attest to the parish's enduring Catholic culture. The parish today maintains its historic identity through its bell tower, prayer garden, and the Joan of Arc statue that has welcomed generations of worshippers.

Parish Ministries & Prayer Groups
St. Joan of Arc is known for its many active lay-led ministries, several of which have decades of history in the parish.
- Legion of Mary — meets Saturdays at 11:00 AM
- Divine Mercy Cenacle — meets every other Wednesday for prayer and study of the writings of St. Faustina
- Monday Night Fatima Rosary Group — meets in member homes Monday evenings at 7:00 PM (active for more than 45 years)

Vocations Committee
Working closely with the pastor, pastoral council, school staff, youth group, and other parish organizations, the Vocations Committee promotes discernment of vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, and religious life. The committee hosts the consecrated chalice of Msgr. Robert Vincent, a former pastor of St. Joan of Arc, in parishioners' homes for a week at a time; families are invited to display the chalice in a place of honor and pray a rosary nightly for vocations. Parish School
St. Joan of Arc School is an integral part of the parish family. It was founded in 1961, originally staffed by the Dominican Sisters, and continues to provide Catholic education to the La Place community.

Parish Events & Community Life
Beyond liturgy and devotions, St. Joan of Arc fosters community through an annual Parish Fair and the SJA Fun Run — a 1-mile and 5K run/walk through Riverlands Estates with age-category awards and a class competition that rewards the class with the highest percentage of participation. The parish also maintains a prayer garden and a bell tower that has been the focus of recent parish-wide fundraising for refurbishment.
