History & Heritage

The parish was founded in 1920, with the church building constructed around the same time. Over more than a century, the church has been remodeled several times; a major renovation in 1983 added new wiring and lighting while preserving the original columns and woodwork. The stained glass windows are a particular treasure: early 20th-century pieces by a San Francisco designer, a 1958 Saint Christopher window by Carl Huneke (Century Stained Glass Studio, San Francisco), and additional windows created between 1986 and 1990 by Jerry Sinclair of Gothic Art Glass in Napa, who also restored the older windows.

  • Parish founded 1920 (church built 1921 per Huneke Studio records)
  • Major renovation in 1983 — new wiring, accent colors, lighting
  • Stained glass by Carl Huneke (1958) and Jerry Sinclair (1986–1990)
  • 'Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane' window adapted from Heinrich Hofmann's 1902 painting
  • Designated Jubilee Church, 2016 (Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy)

Pastor & Staff

St. Joan of Arc is led by Fr. Daniel Roa, who serves as Pastor (parochial administrator). Fr. Daniel is described by the parish as a devoted shepherd with a gentle nature, who fosters unity and dialogue within the community and is especially attentive to the marginalized. He celebrates both the Ordinary Form and the Traditional Latin (Tridentine) Mass. The parish staff includes a bilingual secretary, Margarita Alvarado, and a bookkeeper/secretary, Roxanne Prager.
