History of the Parish

The parish was established in 1954 on the south side of San Antonio. Three years later, in 1957, the parish community partnered with the Marianist Sisters to found St. James the Apostle Catholic School. The original classrooms were government-surplus buildings moved from a nearby military base, which parishioners then remodeled themselves. The parish has grown into a bilingual community offering Mass in both English and Spanish.

Theo Avenue, St. James the Apostle Catholic School was established by the parish in 1957 in partnership with the Marianist Sisters and is now staffed by the Salesian Sisters.
