St. James Catholic Parish in Gadsden, Alabama, is a historic, bilingual community rooted in the Eucharist and serving the greater Etowah County area. Founded from missionary roots with the first Mass celebrated in 1876, the parish built its present church in 1927 and has supported Catholic education through St. James Catholic School since 1912. Today, under the leadership of Fr. Jose B. Chacko, St. James welcomes English- and Spanish-speaking families for Mass, religious education, Eucharistic adoration, and reconciliation.

History
St. James traces its beginnings to a missionary Mass in 1876, grew into a parish with its first resident pastor in 1912, and dedicated its current church on October 3, 1927.
