Why belong here

St. Isidore offers the full rhythm of a neighborhood Catholic parish: daily 7 a.m. weekday Masses, three Sunday Masses (including an evening option at 6 p.m.), Saturday confessions from 2:30 to 4 p.m., and a robust Eucharistic Adoration program centered on the John Paul II Adoration Chapel. It is a parish that links its members to community help lines, pregnancy-resource referrals, marriage-support (Retrouvaille), and Courage for those discerning the Church's teaching on same-sex attraction. Welcoming new parishioners through printable or emailed registration forms, St. Isidore invites anyone — Catholic or not — to come spend quiet time in adoration.

History of the Parish

Founded in 1897 in Kent County, Grand Rapids, St. Isidore Parish has ministered to Catholics in the city for well over a century. A significant milestone in its modern life was the opening of the John Paul II Adoration Chapel on August 15, 1993, born out of Pope John Paul II's 1981 encyclical call for prolonged or perpetual Eucharistic Adoration in parishes. The chapel was built so that the Blessed Sacrament could be kept secure in a Tabernacle, available for prayer up to twelve hours a day. The parish also maintains a historic, antique pipe organ (by M.P. Möller) noted on the parish website.

  • 1897 – Parish established
  • 1993 (Aug. 15) – John Paul II Adoration Chapel opened
  • The Diocese of Grand Rapids lists the church as handicapped accessible
