St. Henry Catholic Church is a bilingual (English and Spanish) Roman Catholic parish in the Archdiocese of San Antonio, Texas, located at 1619 S. Founded in 1904 to serve the German-speaking Catholic community that had outgrown St. Joseph parish downtown, St. Henry today serves approximately 800 families with a pastoral mission to 'proclaim the Gospel of Christ to our local community in word, deed, and truth.' Why belong here
St. Henry offers a close-knit parish family of roughly 800 households with real opportunities to put faith into action — bilingual weekend Masses, a robust Religious Education program and RCIA for adults, liturgical ministries (choir, lectors, altar servers, Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist), social-justice outreach through the St. Vincent de Paul Society and homebound visits, food-pantry volunteering, youth ministry, men's and women's groups, and the annual parish bazaar. It is also one of the few parishes that celebrates weekday Mass at the Catholic Center for Charismatic Renewal, making it a natural home for Catholics drawn to both traditional parish life and charismatic spirituality.

History of St. Henry Parish
St. Henry Catholic Church has roots that go back to the late 19th century, when German-speaking Catholics from St. Joseph Church in downtown San Antonio asked their bishop for a neighborhood school. That request led, in 1893, to the founding of St. Henry's Academy under Rev. Henry Pefferkorn, then pastor of St. Joseph. By 1904 the German-speaking community had outgrown St. Joseph's, and the parish of St. Henry was formally established with Rev. Henry M. Wirtz as its first pastor. Today the parish serves roughly 800 families whose demographics have shifted over time, but whose 'faith and devotion,' in the parish's own words, remain the same.
