Our Story — From Peters Elementary School to a 50+ Ministry Parish
St. Gregory the Great was established on August 11, 1959 by founding pastor Father Michael Keller, with the first parish Mass offered on August 15, 1959 (the Feast of the Assumption) in the cafeteria of Peters Elementary School. The parish school opened a year later on September 6, 1960 with 143 students and three Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth in portable classrooms donated by Our Lady Queen of Martyrs. The church was dedicated January 8, 1961. A 1979 fire partially destroyed the original church; Father Martin Cassidy (pastor 1974–1991) oversaw the building of the present church (completed March 1981), and the damaged structure was rebuilt into the Parish Center. Msgr. Noel Fogarty (pastor from August 1991) led a series of campus campaigns — school expansion (1995), Prayer Garden (2004), Church Renovation (2010) — and established the school's Endowment Fund in 1996. Today the parish is led by Father Michael W. Davis (2022–Present) and serves a growing, bilingual Catholic community in Plantation.

St. Gregory the Great offers one of the fullest Mass schedules in the Plantation area, with daily Mass Monday through Friday, a Wednesday-evening Mass in Spanish, Saturday morning Mass, a Saturday Vigil, and seven Sunday Masses including two in Spanish. St. Gregory runs both the English-language RCIA and the Spanish-language RICA for adults seeking full communion with the Catholic Church. RICA is a 7- to 8-month itinerary of prayer, evangelization, catechesis, and formation rooted in the Catechism, Sacred Scripture, and Catholic teaching.

Confirmation Program
Confirmation preparation is a two-year process for Catholics who have already received Baptism and First Communion, ordinarily beginning in 7th grade and culminating at the end of 8th grade. Older teens enter a two-year high-school Confirmation program; those over 18 are invited into RCIA.

Youth & Young Adult Ministries

St. Gregory Catholic School (PK3–8th Grade)
St. Gregory Catholic School has been in continuous operation since 1960, accredited by the Florida Catholic Conference, and recognized as an "Exemplary School" by the U.S. Department of Education in 1988. The present state-of-the-art building opened in 1995, was expanded in 2000, and continues to be enhanced with technology and facilities. Its long-term stability is reinforced by the 1996 Endowment Fund.
