St. George Mission Church is a small Catholic mission in Coushatta, the seat of Red River Parish, Louisiana. Founded in 1941 and long served from the Diocese of Alexandria (later the Diocese of Shreveport, erected 1986), it functioned for decades as a mission of larger parishes — most recently as a mission of Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bossier City, which Bishop William B. Friend erected as a parish on March 17, 1999, with St. George attached as its mission. The community celebrated its final Mass on June 30, 2025, and the doors closed permanently as part of the diocese's pastoral restructuring plan that merged St. George back into Mary, Queen of Peace Parish. St. George Mission offered a small, tight-knit Catholic community on the rural west side of Red River Parish, faithful Sunday and weekday Masses, and personal access to its pastor and a permanent deacon for the sacraments — especially the Sacrament of Penance by appointment. The mission's history shows decades of lay initiative, family generosity (the Adcock family donated the Ashland Road land), and steady pastoral care from Mary, Queen of Peace in Bossier City. Visitors and members were welcomed into a worship tradition that stretched back to 1941, when the first Mass was said in a converted garage. Note: As of June 30, 2025, the mission has permanently closed and former parishioners have been folded into Mary, Queen of Peace Parish in Bossier City.

History of St. George Mission Church
The mission began in 1941 under the Diocese of Alexandria, with Rev. Leonard E. Curtis, O.P., celebrating Sunday Mass in a converted garage on Alonzo Street. Its first permanent building went up on Red Oak Road by 1951, and a larger, current church was constructed on Ashland Road in 1980. Through re-organization in 1986 and 1999, the mission passed from the care of Campti and Powhatan priests to St. Joseph's parishes, and finally to Mary, Queen of Peace in Bossier City. The mission closed permanently on June 30, 2025.

Facilities and Campus
The mission campus on Highway 155 included the main church building completed in 1980 and Desadier Hall, added in 1989 and dedicated to the memory of Marvin Desadier. Both have served the small congregation for worship and parish gatherings.

Pastoral Restructuring (2025 Closure)
In 2025, the Diocese of Shreveport announced a pastoral restructuring plan for the Western Deanery that folded St. George Mission back into Mary, Queen of Peace Parish and closed several other churches in the region. Despite community protest and efforts to save mission churches across the deanery, St. George celebrated its last Mass on June 30, 2025, and closed its doors permanently.
