Our parish comprises two worship sites: Saint Francis of Assisi Church, a historic stone church just outside downtown Wakefield, and Saint Romuald Chapel, a quaint beach-side chapel in Matunuck. We are a vibrant parish with a strong liturgical and devotional life, thriving catechetical programs for both youth and adults, countless opportunities for service, and a strong focus on parish fellowship.

Our Catholic faith community of Saint Francis of Assisi Parish comes together as a family of faith, worship and service to continue the mission of Jesus Christ by living out, proclaiming, and making present the kingdom of God. Guided by the Holy Spirit, we strive to be a welcoming community nurturing a spirit of belonging where all grow together in our faith by: Worshiping God through liturgy celebrations, sacraments, devotions, and prayer; Nourishing Christian values in our parish homes, family and society; Serving all our brothers and sisters; especially the poor, the sick, the neglected, and the needy in our parish community; Forming committed disciples of Jesus Christ.
Meet the Clergy
Father Albert Ranallo, Pastor. Fr. Ranallo was born and raised in Providence, RI. He assumed the role of pastor of St. Francis of Assisi Parish on October 1, 2022. He also serves as Director of Chaplaincy at Rhode Hospital, Director of pastoral care at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, and Coordinator of Pastoral Care of Healthcare Facilities. He has served as pastor at St. Ann’s Parish and as an assistant pastor at St. Augustine Parish in Providence. Deacon John W. Dowd was born in Providence, Rhode Island. He attended St. Patrick’s Church and school, later moved to Cranston, and attended St. Matthew’s School and Our Lady of Providence High School. After serving in the USAFSS, he attended CCRI.
