Why belong here

St. Francis of Assisi offers the warmth of a small, family-style rural parish with daily and weekend Mass, Eucharistic Adoration twice weekly, regular Confession, and a deep connection to the surrounding farming communities. As a member of the Christ the King pastorate, it shares priests, faith formation, and events with neighboring Catholic communities while preserving the intimate, reverent style of worship that visitors consistently praise. Newcomers are welcomed into a parish that takes seriously its call to 'go and make disciples.'

Parish History & Into the Deep

St. Francis of Assisi has long served Belleville and the surrounding Green County farming community. As part of Bishop Donald J. Hying's 'Into the Deep' pastoral initiative, the parish joined a multi-site pastorate beginning July 1, 2023. On December 14, 2023, Bishop Hying formally installed Fr. Brian Dulli as pastor. Effective November 22, 2025, canonical mergers further reorganized the territory: the Belleville/Albany portion became Christ the King Parish, while the St. Francis of Assisi name continued with the Mt. Horeb/Belleville-region cluster of seven church sites.

  • Became part of a multi-site pastorate on July 1, 2023
  • Installation of Fr. Brian Dulli — December 14, 2023 (Gaudete Sunday)
  • Fr. Chahm Gahng installed same day as pastor of Christ the King Parish (the Monroe/Belleville/Albany/Brodhead cluster)
  • November 22, 2025: further canonical mergers in the Diocese of Madison

Clergy & Pastoral Leadership

Rev. Brian Dulli serves as pastor of St. Francis of Assisi Parish following his installation by Bishop Donald J. Hying on December 14, 2023. Fr. Dulli brings 17 years of ordained ministry to the role. He is supported in the broader cluster by Fr. Chahm Gahng (pastor of Christ the King Parish), Fr. Garrett Kau and Fr. Prabhakar Singareddy (parochial vicars), Fr. Milot Frederique, SMM (parochial vicar for Hispanic Ministry), and Fr. Rob Butz (a former parochial administrator who concelebrated the installation Mass).

Faith Formation & Religious Education

Faith formation at the parish is coordinated through the Christ the King pastorate and led by Celine Peterson, coordinator of faith formation. The pastorate offers a monthly family-centered formation program as well as middle-school and high-school programs. Encounter Nights — evenings of faith sharing, testimony, and Eucharistic devotion — began in May 2024 and are open to anyone in the pastorate or beyond.

The Knights of Columbus have served as an honor guard at major liturgies, and the Council of Catholic Women hosts receptions and parish gatherings. Office staff and volunteers across multiple church locations keep bulletins, calendars, databases, and websites coordinated across the pastorate.
