St. Faustina Catholic Church is a Roman Catholic parish in Fulshear, Texas, founded in 2014 as the youngest parish in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. Our Story & Mission
St. Faustina Catholic Church exists to be "a community where the deep love and mercy of God is lived, experienced, and shared." Its vision is to be a center of Divine Mercy where everyone is transformed through a deep relationship with Jesus — "Renewed by His mercy, we spread the fire of His love." The parish traces its roots to a humble beginning at Hubenak Elementary School in 2014 and credits the love and support of its community as the cornerstone of its progress.

Founding & Growth (2014–Present)
After seven years as Director of Vocations for the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, Father Dat Hoang was appointed by Cardinal Daniel DiNardo to start a new parish for the rapidly growing Catholic population of the Fulshear/Katy area. He held town hall meetings, celebrated the first Mass at Hubenak Elementary School on August 16, 2014, and for two years the congregation worshipped rain-or-shine at the school — driving the altar over each Sunday. After Cardinal DiNardo asked the community to suggest names, St. Faustina Kowalska was chosen from three options. The permanent church building opened in December 2017; by the five-year mark the parish had grown to about 3,400 families, and today it counts more than 6,000 registered families.

Pastoral Leadership
Father Dat Hoang is the founding pastor of St. Faustina. Born in Vietnam, he came to the United States in 1990 as one of eight children. He attended high school in Houston, entered the seminary in 1994, and was ordained in 2003. His first assignment was Holy Name Parish in north downtown Houston, followed by St. Mary Magdalene Parish in Humble, TX, where he served as Parochial Vicar and headed Hispanic Ministry. Cardinal DiNardo then appointed him Director of Vocations and the Department of Seminarians — a role he held for seven years — before sending him to found St. Faustina in Fulshear.

Capital Campaign & Building the Future
After outgrowing its original worship space, St. Faustina launched a capital campaign on September 1 to underwrite a second building phase. The expansion will add classrooms, offices and community space to help the parish realize its mission of being a place where "the deep love and mercy of God is lived, experienced and shared."
