History of St. Fabian Parish
St. Fabian was founded in 1958 in response to the population boom in what was then Farmington Township. The first Masses, celebrated on July 15, 1958, drew 600 people into the temporary quarters at Dunckel Middle School. A church was begun that November after Cardinal Mooney's death in October 1958 and dedicated by Archbishop Dearden in September 1959. The parish school followed in 1963–1965, staffed by Bernardine Franciscan Sisters. The third pastor, Fr. Seamus Ryan, expanded seating to 720 with new transepts in 1983. In early 2013 the parish merged with St. Colman (est. 1960); the sanctuary was renovated that summer and the baptismal font moved into a newly expanded vestibule.

St. Fabian Parish School (the Falcons)
St. Fabian Catholic School, founded in 1965 with 163 students and the Bernardine Franciscan Sisters, continues as a parish PreK–8 elementary school serving Farmington Hills families. Religious Formation & Youth

Music & Liturgical Ministries
The Music Ministry, led by Director Andrew Langlands (ext. 224), fields several ensembles that serve Sunday and funeral liturgies. Parishioners can also join the liturgical team as Altar Servers, Eucharistic Ministers, Greeters, Hospitality ministers, Lectors, Musicians, Sacristans, or Ushers. The Cantor Ministry requires prior reception of the sacraments through Confirmation and an annual audition.

Beyond the school and liturgy, St. Fabian lists several community-building and service groups.
