History of the Mission
Construction of the Paguate chapel began in September 1919. In June 1920 it was dedicated to St. Elizabeth of Hungary by the Most Rev. Albert Daeger, OFM DD, and the chapel was blessed on September 25, the feast day of the patroness. For more than a century the mission has continued to serve the Catholic faithful of Paguate village, and in June 2010 the village renovated the church grounds to improve safety and to provide better access for wheelchair users and people with limited walking disabilities.
