St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish is the sole Roman Catholic parish serving North Adams, Massachusetts, in the Diocese of Springfield in Massachusetts. Parish History
St. Elizabeth of Hungary was created in 2009 when Bishop Timothy A. McDonnell consolidated North Adams's three Catholic parishes — St. Francis of Assisi, Our Lady of Mercy, and St. Anthony of Padua — into a single community, headquartered in the former St. Anthony of Padua church at 70 Marshall Street. The decision followed the diocesan Mullin Report, which found that only one parish could be sustained in the city. Rev. William F. Cyr, who had been serving all three parishes, oversaw the transition and retired effective July 1, 2018. Rev. Dariusz Wudarski was named pastor on July 2, 2018.

Religious Education & RCIA
The parish runs a Religious Education program for children ('Discovering God together') and the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) — described on the parish website as 'never too late to learn more about God's love.' The RCIA process follows the ancient practice of the Church, restored by the Second Vatican Council, and includes the phases of Pre-Catechumenate (Period of Inquiry), Rite of Initiation, Catechumenate, Rite of Election, Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil, and Mystagogy. An RCIA team of sponsors guides, supports, and instructs inquiring adults and older children seeking Baptism, Eucharist, and/or Confirmation.

Sanctuary Restoration Project
Under Father Wudarski, the parish is undertaking a major capital restoration campaign in consultation with stone and art specialists from Canning & Co. (David Riccio) and art historian Dr. Felix Puccio. The campaign preserves the existing marble altar, restores the original confessionals to the front of the church by the main entrance, removes outdated ceiling fans, and reinstalls historic sanctuary artwork — including four circular images of the Evangelists (St. Luke, St. Matthew, St. John, St. Mark). Parishioners were invited to vote on the art-deco restoration approach via ballots sent home and in-person voting. As of January 22, 2024, the campaign had raised $464,692, with envelopes provided by the Diocese and Our Sunday Visitor (OSV), plus an online giving option.

Parish Life & Fundraisers
The parish maintains an active social calendar with several signature community events each year. The annual Bazaar is a major fundraiser organized by parishioner Deb Bua (a 2023 bake-sale weekend raised $814 as startup money). Irish Night is held in March, and Lenten Fish Dinners are hosted on Good Friday. The parish also hosts a multi-day Lenten Mission and publishes weekly bulletins online.
