St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Parish is a Roman Catholic parish located in the Oak Cliff / Southwest Dallas County area of Dallas, Texas, within the Roman Catholic Diocese of Dallas. Founded in 1956 at the request of its first pastor, Monsignor James F. Burnes, it was named after St. Elizabeth of Hungary in memory of his mother. Today the parish serves a diverse community through Sunday and daily Mass, a parochial school (Pre-K3 through 8th grade), Catholic faith formation for all ages, and an active roster of lay ministries including the Knights of Columbus, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, and the Guadalupanas Association.

Mass & Worship Schedule
Sunday Mass is celebrated three times — 8:00 AM, 10:00 AM, and 12:00 PM — with the Saturday vigil at 5:00 PM. The Knights of Columbus lead the Rosary at 7:30 AM every Sunday before the 8:00 AM Mass. Daily Mass is offered Monday through Saturday at 8:00 AM. Confessions are heard Friday from 6:00–7:00 PM, on First Fridays from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and Saturday from 3:30–4:30 PM, with appointments available on request.

Our History
St. Elizabeth of Hungary was established in 1956 at the request of founding pastor Monsignor James F. Burnes, who named it in memory of his own mother. The first Mass was celebrated on March 11, 1956, on the 22-acre Oak Cliff site that had been purchased for $50,000 along with the dismantled Westminster Presbyterian Church. Burnes oversaw the construction of the permanent church (dedicated April 1968 by Bishop Thomas Gorman), the parish school (1958), and the expansion of ministries that continue today.

Faith Formation & Religious Education
The parish provides a total formation program for Catholics from Pre-K4 through Adult, including a Children's Program on Sunday mornings, a High School Youth Ministry that meets Wednesday evenings, and OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults — formerly RCIA) for adults seeking to enter the Church or complete the Sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation. OCIA classes for adults meet Wednesday evenings in the parish school (recently 7:00–8:30 PM). Children's OCIA, Vacation Bible School, and Young Adult Formation are also coordinated through this office.

St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic School
Located on the parish campus at 4019 S. Hampton Road (phone 214-331-5139), the school is a Pre-K3 through 8th-grade Catholic elementary school. It opened September 12, 1958, with 29 kindergarten and first-grade students under the Oblate Missionaries of the Immaculate, was staffed by the School Sisters of Notre Dame from 1964 to 1983, and has been led by lay principals and largely lay faculty since 1983. The school describes its mission as providing a quality Catholic education that develops each student's spiritual and academic potential (see saintspride.com).

Knights of Columbus Council 17111
The parish's Knights of Columbus council meets in the Grahmann Center (directly behind the church). The Officers' Meeting is held the first Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM, with the General Meeting on the third Thursday at 7:00 PM. Council members lead the Rosary every Sunday at 7:30 AM before the 8:00 AM Mass.

Society of St. Vincent de Paul
The parish chapter of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul serves those in need in the surrounding area. Guadalupanas Association
Founded in May 1997 with a small group of founding members devoted to Our Lady of Guadalupe, the Guadalupanas Association has grown to more than 40 members of all ages. The Association promotes devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe, prays for and supports vocations to the priesthood and religious life, and supports ministries approved by the Diocese of Dallas and the pastor with donations, service, and time. Membership is open to any registered parishioner (male or female) who has received the Sacrament of Confirmation. Meetings are every 2nd Thursday of the month, 6:30–8:00 PM in the Grahmann Center (no meetings in June or July). The Association also sells baked goods and sweets after Sunday Masses as a fundraiser.

The parish office is open Tuesday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a lunch closure from 12:00 noon to 12:30 p.m. The office is also closed on Holy Days and U.S. holidays. During weather emergencies, the office follows Dallas ISD closures, while the parish makes every effort to keep the Mass schedule running — visitors should consult the website for updates.
