For nearly three decades, St. Elizabeth, Mother of John the Baptist served Catholics in North St. Louis from its Shreve Avenue church. In 2023, Archbishop Mitchell T. Rozanski's 'All Things New' initiative restructured many parishes across the Archdiocese. On August 1, 2023, St. Elizabeth, Mother of John the Baptist was amalgamated with three neighboring parishes — Our Lady of the Holy Cross, St. Augustine, and St. Matthew the Apostle — to form the new St. Peter Claver Parish. Archbishop Rozanski's formal decree identified the St. Elizabeth, Mother of John the Baptist, Church (the former St. Englebert Church) as the primary worship site of the new parish.
