Our Story

St. Elizabeth Catholic Church has served Dilworth's Catholics since 1910, growing from Masses said in private homes by visiting priests from Moorhead's St. Joseph parish into a dedicated concrete-block church in the summer of 1910 and, eventually, the present church building completed in 1964. Today the parish continues that small-town faith tradition within the Diocese of Crookston.

  • 1907: Father Charles Cannon of St. Joseph's, Moorhead, surveys Dilworth Catholics about forming a mission.
  • Following years: Father Gerard Speilman of St. Joseph's celebrates Mass in private homes.
  • July 1910: New effort launched to organize a parish.
  • Fall 1910: 35-by-51-foot concrete-block church dedicated.
  • 1964: Present church building completed.
