Parish History
The parish was created in 1981 by decree of Bishop Daniel Kucera as a third Catholic parish in Salina to serve continued growth to the south. The founding community of fewer than 170 families worshipped for fifteen months in private homes, a bank, a movie theater, a high school gymnasium, and a nearby Lutheran church. Ground was broken on August 10, 1981, and the first in-church Mass was celebrated October 16, 1982. The parish grew under founding pastors Frs. Melvin Long, Lawrence Grennan, LeRoy Metro, and Frank Coady, with Sr. Connie Haug, O.P., and Sr. Janis Wagner serving as Pastoral Associates.

Faith Formation & Religious Education
Faith formation at St. Elizabeth's spans childhood through adulthood. PRE (Parish Religious Education) serves Grades 1–6 under Director Robyn Clark. Confirmation preparation for older students is coordinated by Luci Larson, and the parish runs RCIA / OCIA for adults inquiring about the faith. Children's Liturgy of the Word is offered at the 5:15 pm and 10:30 am Masses, and Vacation Bible School is held annually — recent programs include the 'Rainforest Falls' Totally Catholic VBS for ages 4 through grade 3.

Adult Faith Formation
The parish offers ongoing adult faith formation including a Tuesday Bible Study in the Parish Hall, a Spiritual Book Club, and recorded classes linked from the parish website. Liturgical Ministries
A robust roster of liturgical ministries allows parishioners to participate actively in Mass. The Adult Choir prepares music for Christmas and Easter Masses; the Youth Choir (Grades 1–8) sings at the 10:30 am Mass on select Sundays, practicing the Wednesday evening before. Other roles include altar servers (grades 5+ and adults), lectors, extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion, hospitality/greeters, gift bearers, sacristans, cantors, and instrumentalists — all coordinated by Liturgical Music Coordinator Sr. Dian Hall.

Service, Social & Support Ministries
Beyond the sanctuary, the parish supports a wide network of service and fellowship ministries. Eucharistic ministers bring Communion to the homebound, those in hospitals, and nursing home residents. Volunteers count the weekly collection after the 10:30 am Mass, and others keep the Adoration Chapel candles cleaned and refilled on a rotating schedule. The Knights of Columbus Council #10778 is a major service arm; the St. Elizabeth's Women's Group (organized January 2010) hosts fundraisers and an annual $750 college scholarship; the Sojourners group serves parishioners aged 55 and older from September through May; and a Prayer Chain sustains parishioners in need.

Sacraments
The parish prepares parishioners for and celebrates the seven Catholic sacraments. Confession is offered weekly on Wednesdays and by appointment; Baptism is scheduled through the pastor and includes required Baptismal Preparation for parents; Marriage requires contacting the parish office to begin preparation; and Anointing of the Sick is available by contacting the parish office. Confirmation preparation is a separate two-year program for older students.
