History of the Parish
Founded in 1983 as a satellite of St. Brendan's and St. Mary Magdalen parishes, the community first met in Silver Lake Elementary, then moved to a storefront in Market Place Square. By early 1985 it became the 132nd parish of the Archdiocese of Seattle. The patron, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, was chosen by parish vote on January 4, 1985, and over $2 million was raised to build the current church and classrooms, dedicated in 1987. By 2009 it ranked 5th in the archdiocese by average Mass attendance, and on October 11, 2017, Auxiliary Bishop Daniel Mueggenborg presided at the 30th Anniversary of the Dedication.

Our Patron Saint — St. Elizabeth Ann Seton
Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton is the first American-born Catholic saint. Pope Paul VI canonized her on September 14, 1975 — the International Year of the Woman. She is the patron saint of widows, of those who have lost children, of people suffering in-law problems, and of those ridiculed for their piety. The parish holds her as a model of faith and Christian education, the reason early parishioners voted her their patron in 1985.

Faith Formation & Religious Education
St. Elizabeth Ann Seton's Faith Formation program serves children, teens, and adults in both English and Spanish. Sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation and First Communion is a two-year process available to elementary children grades 1–5; unbaptized children or those from other Christian traditions follow an adapted OCIA-for-Children track. Middle-schoolers participate in EDGE and high-schoolers in Life Teen. Adult formation includes OCIA, Bible study on the Gospel of Matthew, a Women's Fellowship, and the Apostolado de la Cruz classes in Spanish. The parish also offers 'The Religion Teacher,' a home video-based family formation resource with worksheets and a certificate of completion.

In addition to its parish school programs, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton is opening the Little Saints Learning Center at Seton House and hosting the St. Pius X Preschool Program on its campus. Both programs offer faith-rooted early-childhood education for the parish and surrounding community.

Missionaries of the Holy Spirit (M.Sp.S.)
St. Elizabeth Ann Seton is one of a handful of U.S. parishes staffed by the Missionaries of the Holy Spirit (Missioneros del Espíritu Santo), an international religious congregation.
