St. Egbert Catholic Church in Morehead City, North Carolina, is a vibrant parish rooted in a rich history dating back to the 1920s, when Father Egbert Albert served Catholics from a railway chapel car. The parish was formally established in 1929 with the dedication of its first permanent church building, built as a memorial to Father Egbert. Today, the parish continues its mission to love God, love neighbor, and share the Good News through worship, sacraments, and active community ministries. Parish History
Father Egbert Albert, a Passionist priest, brought Catholic services to Morehead City in the late 1920s from a railway chapel car. After his death in early 1929, a community fundraising effort was launched to build a permanent church in his honor. Construction began in April 1929 and the church was dedicated on June 23, 1929.
